Carbon Reduction Label for Salad Oil

To continue its effort for energy conservation and carbon reduction, TSC took the lead in providing carbon emission related information of TSC cooking oil. The Xiaogang Factory of the Sugar Business Division obtained the EPA’s Carbon Label in 2015, 2017, and 2019, and further optimized the raw material transport routes to reduce the Scope 3 emissions. Originally, TSC imported soybeans from west coast of the U.S. and the Gulf of Mexico. However, due to the longer route from Gulf of Mexico that has to pass through Panama Canal, starting from 2019, the import of soybeans has focused on the west coast of the U.S. that can be directly transported to Asia without detours and thereby greatly reducing the carbon emissions of cooking oils.

To present the above-mentioned carbon reduction results and to cooperate the Environmental Protection Administration’s Carbon Reduction Label, the Xiaogang Factory of the Sugar Business Division entrusted SGS Taiwan for the third-party verification and obtained the Verification Statement in 2021. In the same year, we applied for the Carbon Reduction Label from the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) and was issued the Certificate for the Use of Product Carbon Footprint Reduction Label, and the validity period is 5 years and expires on December 8, 2026. From 2022Q2, the Carbon Reduction Label has been put on the new packaging of the soybean salad oil and the shortening oil to replace the original Carbon Label. In addition, the Xiaogang Factory participated in the Low-carbon Product Award and won the Excellent Award granted by the EPA.
