TSC Shanhua sugar factory operates on Dec 14 to produce the first traceable sugar

TSC Shanhua sugar factory held an opening ceremony of the 110/111 operation year today. The chairman led the team and local public representatives to burn incense sticks and to throw sugarcane into the squeezing machine to pray for smooth operation throughout the  year.

"Shanhua sugar factory is one of the only two operating sugar mills in Taiwan," said TSC, adding that this year its operation period is expected to end in the middle of March in 2022 with a total of 92 operating days. It is expected to harvest 221 thousand tons of sugarcane, producing 20 thousand tons of Taiwan Golden Sugar, 12 tons of sugar, and other byproducts such as bagasse and molasses. The overall sugar production rate is 9.4% which is expected to surpass last year's record.

"The self-managed and contract farms of Shanhua factory are certified by APACC of National Chung Hsing University, ensuring that sugarcane grows in pure and pollution-free land," TSC explained. With reduced chemical fertilizers and pesticides, TSC's sugarcane comply with requirements of food safety, sanitation, and environmental sustainability. The production, processing and packaging also follow TGAP regulations, making TSC Taiwan Golden Sugar the first traceable sugar (TAP) in Taiwan.

In addition to TAP, sugar from Shanhua mill is also certified by ISO9001, ISO22000, and GHP. TSC sugar products are eco-friendly, traceable, and sustainable, and are available at TSC Million stores, TSC ego888, PX Mart, Carrefour, and designated counters. They contain unique aroma and flavor, and it is definitely worth trying!
