Taiwan Sugar Corporation (Taisugar) held its 2024 annual shareholders' meeting at 10:00 a.m. today (14th) at its headquarters in Tainan, Taiwan. Chairman Ming-Jou Yang presided over the meeting and reported to all shareholders. With the efforts of all employees, the Company's operating revenue for last year (2023) was NT$30.187 billion and operating profit was NT$2.233 billion, which exceeded the estimated budget by NT$1,253 billion and NT$982 million respectively. The Company has not only achieved its budgeted goals, but also significantly improved its operating performance. The meeting also approved the 2023 earnings distribution, the dividend per share was NT$0.7. The 36th term of the board of directors' election (including independent directors) was also completed.
According to Taisugar, it has continued to focus on the businesses of circular economy, green energy, asset revitalization, health and leisure last year, and has implemented target management to increase revenue and to move towards net zero for sustainability. Over the past three years, Taisugar has achieved success in revitalizing its land assets, and has been rated as "twAA" by a credit rating agency in its long-term credit rating, which is the first time that it has been rated in the past 17 years, and is an acknowledgement and encouragement of Taisugar's operation and management.
Taisugar pointed out that its seven business divisions turned a loss into a profit last year, and the results of various business promotions have been highly recognized, including the Top 100 Sustainable Enterprise Award, BSI and TSAA Sustainability Award. This year, Taisugar has selected the "Smooth Eco-friendly shower Collection" gift box (containing 1 bottle each of shampoo and body wash) as a souvenir for its shareholders. Co-developed by the Leisure Business Division and Biotechnology Business Division, the product is specially formulated with molasses, a sugar by-product. In addition, it uses ECOCERT certified organic ingredients, which are natural, non-irritating, sustainable and environmentally friendly. This fully reflects Taisugar's philosophy in recycling and reusing resources, so Taisugar would like to share the R&D results with all its shareholders.
