As the epidemic continues to spread, the demand for disinfectants is soaring. In order to respond to the massive demand, besides the Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL), Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) now is producing 75% rubbing alcohol at affordable prices and the product hits the shelves at FamilyMart on Wednesday (Feb. 19).
 
"Though the government has taken aggressive actions to stem the spread of COVID-19, we still need to stay alert and keep the habit of washing hands and sanitizing surroundings for infection prevention," TSC pointed out, "75% rubbing alcohol is effective in sanitizing and killing bacteria. TSC responds to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to manufacture 75% rubbing alcohol in 350ml bottles at NT$45 each.”
 
TSC stressed since the 75% rubbing alcohol is available in limited quantities, in order to better allocate this scarce resource, each person is allowed to purchase only one bottle while supplies last. There is no need for panic-buying and in accordance with the regulations, people under 18 years old are not permitted to buy it.
 
TSC calls for people to take precautionary measures against the coronavirus and exhort people not to hoard the product but to buy just enough for their own needs.
