Stele for Kaneki Zensaburo

Description

It was also known as the “Three Outstanding Stele,” describing its outstanding stone material, carving and calligraphy. It stands about 2 meters tall. The name of the stele was inscribed in seal characters while the article was inscribed in standard characters.

Kaneki Zensaburo was from Okayama City, Japan, and served in sugar factories for more than 20 years after his graduation from Tokyo University. He died during his office as the president of Kio-a-thau Sugar Manufacturing Co., Ltd. To commemorate his contribution to Qiaotou Sugar Factory, a stele was erected. Given that the stele stands in a remote location, it was one of the few remains from the Japanese Colonial Era that was not destroyed.
