100% of the senior management of Taiwan Sugar Corporation (including the chairman, president, vice president and the heads and deputy heads of each unit) are residents of Taiwan, of which 7.69% are women.TSC has no foreign employees and part-time employees. We hire (employ) employees based on professional competence and experience, and all the employees are protected by the Labor Standards Act. The ratio of male to female employees is approximately 3.75:1. However, there is no differential treatment or discrimination in terms of employment, salary, performance appraisal and promotion due to gender or marriage status. Job promotions or job transfers in each unit are subject to change, and there is no discrimination based on gender. Due to the unique nature of the Company’s industry, the ratio of female employees in early days was rather low. As the Company diversifies its operations toward the service sector, the proportion of female employees has gradually increased. Nevertheless, adequate work experience and training are still required to qualify for managerial positions. Currently, the proportion of female managers in TSC increased from 6.6% to 8.1% over the three years (having reached the target set by MOEA).

TSC primarily operates in the agriculture and animal husbandry industry, with a majority of employees being males. Male employees account for 78.95% while female employees account for 21.05% of all employees. A joint examination is established based on medium- and long-term manpower planning and the manpower needs of the respective units to recruit new employees, those who are enrolled will be assigned to the units in need of manpower for adequate jobs.
