TSC’s Tainan Operation Branch proposed “Introducing Net-zero Energy-saving Design in the Smart and Circular Building- Take the Tainan Chongxian Circular Housing for Intergenerational Co-residence for Example” and won the Bronze Medal Award in the “Net Zero Building N Squared” Net Zero Building Design Competition. This competition aims to encourage talents from all walks of life to pay attention to the transition and development of net-zero buildings. The competition focuses on ideas related to the application of innovative energy-saving technology to net-zero buildings to improve building efficiency and energy-saving benefits.
TSC promotes the state-owned enterprise’s first circular housing project for intergenerational co-residence to cope with the needs of the current ageing society. In addition, TSC’s emphasis on corporate social and environmental responsibility is demonstrated through the design of energy conservation and circular economy. This intergenerational co-residence is located in downtown Tainan, with a park, junior high schools, elementary schools, a municipal hospital, and long-term care facilities in the neighborhood, facilitating the lives of elderly residents. The design of this residence incorporates universal design and offers accessible rooms to accommodate residents with special needs.
In terms of the implementation of met-zero concept, intergenerational co-residence follows the concept of circular economy and promote rent-to-purchase, integrates the building design with smart systems to enhance energy efficiency of building envelops, and selects high-efficient equipment. In addition, the building has passed the Building Energy-Efficiency Rating System (BERS) Level 1 energy efficiency certification. TSC was in charge of leading this project, overseeing the development and commissioning architects for building planning and energy-efficient design, with technical support provided by academic institutions. Professional entities were also engaged to conduct third-party verification to verify the rationality of energy-saving design. According to this design and planning, an estimated NT$1.52 million in electricity bills can be saved annually, equivalent to an energy saving rate of 43% of the same type of building in 2000.
In terms of carbon reduction rate, compared to buildings of the same type, the carbon reduction rate can reach 25%, reducing 99,564 kgCO2e annually, which is equivalent to the annual carbon dioxide absorption of 0.3 Daan Parks. Based on the intergenerational co-residence model and combined with the nearby medical institutions, regional medical service integration can be achieved.
