To revitalize the sugar industry culture, TSC organizes a series of events at different sugar factories from time to time. The events are combined with local agricultural specialties & cultural and environmental characteristic to promote art and cultural tourism. Events held in 2023 include the followings.

　　On December 12th, 2023, Mandarin Vision Co., Ltd went to the Wushulin Recreational Park to shoot scenes for the movie "A Foggy Tale", which tells the story of the joys and sorrows of ordinary people in Taiwan in the 1950s. The crew rented the SL370 steam train and the "Success" passenger car from the Wushulin Recreational Park, and filmed near the Xin-Dong-Xian-Chi Sation.

　　In 2023, a total of seven featured events, "Little Sugar Railway Heroes Experience Camp," were held at the Wushulin Recreational Park on 1/8, 3/5, 4/3, 5/13, 7/15, 8/19, and 9/16 to promote sugar industry culture.

　　Street performer magic balloon show, gourmet mini market, play small games and win balloon modeling, get a portable fan with a ticket and by liking and sharing.

• 2023/4/3-4 “Children’s Fun Party Celebration”

　　Street performer magic balloon show, like and share to play poking lottery, and set up a wishing wall for kids to draw and leave messages.

• From August 19th to 27th, 2023, the "Qiaotou History- Taiwan Sugar Museum’s Local Highlights Project " was held, including the following four activities:

　　　1. Cultural and Creative Festival of Sugar Industry 8/19-20  Creative market, reality puzzle game.

　　　2. The Centennial Sacred Guanyin Blessing Festival 8/26-27

　　　3. Bomb Shelter Art Festival 8/26-27

　　　4. Qiaotou History Guide 8/19-20、8/26-27

• From September 15th, 2023, to December 10th, 2024, in collaboration with the MOENV, we launched the reality puzzle game "Owl's Universe RPG - Net Zero Town." Through this puzzle game, the public can learn about sugar industry culture and green living environment knowledge.

• From October 4th to November 6th, 2023, we held the Qiaotou Sugar Refinery's "Sugar Culture Education Promotion and Sustainable Management Plan," which included three promotional activities:

　　　1. Sugar’s Gorgeous Transformation Workshop 11/6、8、10、13

　　　2. Suzuki Tozaburo Special Exhibition and Exchange Workshop 11/16

　　　3. Promotion and exchange of sugar culture education: 10/4、13、11/6、7、8、13、15

• From June 8th to 11th and September 6th to 8th, 2023, the "Xihu Sugar Refinery  Industry Knowledge Co-Learning and Educational Promotion Project" was held, including the following 5 activities:

1. One-day ice cream shop staff experience.

2. Picture Book: Entering the Adventure of Xihu Sugar Refinery - the Walking and Reading Event in Xihu Sugar Refinery.

3. Art Classroom in the Morning Light: Sugarcane Bagasse Potted Plant DIY.

4. Visit in search of the sacred in Xihu Sugar Refinery/ Adventurous Puzzle Game Experience in Xihu Sugar Refinery.

5. Book launch and sharing session of the new book “Adventure of Xihu Sugar Refinery.”

• On May 8th, August 19th to September 1st, and October 7th, 2023, the "Yuehmei Tourism Sugar Refinery Sustainable Education Program Series" was held, including the following 3 activities:

1. Getting to Know Hometown: Yuehmei Co-Learning Course Through Maps.

2. Sugar Detective game-style tour

3. Sugar Industry Science Party- Small Experiments in Large Factory - Theme Achievement Activities.

　　On July 29, 2023, the "2023 Little Shop Manager & Little Manager Experience Activity" was held.

　　The activity included experiencing the roles of a retail center manager and a Japanese-style hotel manager, allowing children to get closer to the sugar factory through work experience.

　　On October 7, 2023, the sugar train in Suantou Sugar Factory extended its route to the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum. It is the only railway in Taiwan that directly enters a national repository of important cultural artifacts. By replicating the appearance of the old passenger sugar train's "blue carriages" and the unique sugar train "the Suger Seeker" with air conditioning, the train takes passengers from modern railway facilities through rural fields into a century-old sugar factory, and then slowly enters the cultural heritage of the National Palace Museum, allowing them to experience a cultural journey in pursuit of sweetness.

　　The annual grand event in Pingtung, the "Wandan Sugarcane Festival," was held on November 25th and 26th, 2023, at the Wandan Sugarcane Breeding Farm. Co-organized by the Wandan Harvest Society and the Sugar Business Division of TSC, this event featured a walkathon along the old sugar train tracks with participation from thousands of local residents. There were also fun activities such as riding on traditional ox carts, bamboo arrow shooting, and sugarcane peeling, allowing people to experience the rural life of early times.

　　The sugar production commencement ceremony for the Huwei Sugar Factory for the 2023/2024 season was held on December 15th, 2023. It was attended by Ming-Jou Yang, Chairman of TSC, and Shu-Ya Xie, Deputy Magistrate of Yunlin County, among others. During the ceremony, they offered incense and prayers, and threw sugarcane tied with red ribbons into the cane conveyor, symbolizing the official start of operations and praying for a successful sugar production season. As the Huwei Sugar Factory's chimney emitted billows of smoke and the sound of train whistles filled the air, it signaled the commencement of sugar production. Throughout the sugar-making period, the air around the refinery was filled with the sweet fragrance of sugarcane, creating a unique atmosphere and cherished memories for the residents of Huwei Town.

The sugar production commencement ceremony for the Shanhua Sugar Factory for the 2023/2024 season was held on December 19th, 2023, led by Chairman Ming-Jou Yang and his team. The ceremony followed the traditional "sugar mill starts operation" blessing ritual, during which sugarcane was thrown into the cane conveyor, officially marking the start of the sugar production season. On that day, trucks transported freshly harvested sugarcane from various farms, and residents and visitors strolled through the Shan-Hua Sugar Refinery grounds. They gazed at the towering chimney emitting billows of white smoke and faintly heard the rhythmic sound of the old sugar-making machinery, signaling the commencement of sugar production at the century-old Shanhua Sugar Factory, an iconic landmark in southern Taiwan.

　　In the past, except for the use of transporting sugar during sugar production period, part of the routes ran through areas with dense population and rich products, contributing to the social economy prosperity of the local areas. At that time, most people made use of the sugar railway to commute to work or school. The "North-South Parallel Preparatory Line" connecting the various sugar train routes has its special nature of national defense. Although the sugar railway is not as busy as it used to be, its historical, industrial and cultural value remains unchanged.

　　To combine sugar industry culture with leisure and tourism industry, TSC has chosen 5 old sugar factories and turned them into tourism sugar train parks.
