→There were no incidents concerning privacy violation and data leakage.
→In 2023, the Management Points for Personal Data Protection was revised, adding the reporting mechanism for major high-profile personal data leakage case within 24 hours upon the receipt of notification or knowledge of the leakage. In addition, the Personal Data Protection Contract Clauses (contract template) is also revised for reference when signing a contract that involves personal data.

2024 Goals

Conduct the self-assessment system and performance evaluation of the board of directors at least once annually.

To continue to participate the corporate governance evaluation organized by Department of State-owned Enterprise Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
Each unit is required to organize at least 2 anti-corruption activities (such as integrity promotion, community involvement, administrative transparency) annually to establish a culture of honesty and integrity.
Conduct a corruption risk assessment for each unit at least once a year.
Held more than 4 sessions of general education training on cybersecurity and required all employees to obtain at least 3 hours of training. In addition, social engineering drills are conducted every six months to strengthen employees’ awareness of information security.
The Company’s internal control and manufacturer contract terms are revised on a rolling basis in accordance with the amendments of the Personal Data Protection Act.

2023 Goals and Achievements

The annual water saving target of Dalin Biotechnology Factory is 200 tonnes. (accomplished)
→The bottle filling line of the Dalin Biotechnology Factory in 2023 produced 50 batches of bottled drinks. The water used for bottle washing each batch was about 4 tons, which is reclaimed for reuse. Approximately 200 tonnes of wastewater was reclaimed, achieving the goal.
To achieve the target of wastewater recovery rate (R2) at 77%.(accomplished)
→The wastewater recovery rate of the Dalin Biotechnology Factory was 90.85% in 2023.
→The wastewater recovery rate was 80.5% in 2023.
Approximately 207 MW of solar PV equipment for rooftops, groundtops, detention ponds and unfavorable farming land is expected to be reached. (accomplished)
→In 2023, the installation of 208.63MW was completed.，The cumulative installation of solar photovoltaic facilities has reached 542.39MW, including 15.83MW of rooftop equipment, 99.95MW of floating PV energy generation equipment (detention ponds), 426.61MW of ground-mounted (including low-fertility agricultural land).
To replace the more polluting heavy oil with natural gas (NG) to reduce GHG emissions, and it is expected to reduce GHG emissions by 20% annually per year in Xiaogang Refinery. (accomplished)
→The total GHG emissions of Scope 1 and Scope 2 in Xiaogang Factory in 2021 amounted to 83,840 tonnes. Since the boiler was changed to natural gas one in March, 2022, the overall GHG emissions of Scope 1 and Scope 2 in 2022 and 2023 decreased by 65,624 tonnes and 61,839 tonnes respectively, a decrease of 22% and 26% compared with 2021 (The 2023 GHG data of Xiaogang Factory was from independent inventory).
To continue the promotion of energy conservation movement and the development of renewable energy. (accomplished)
→The total power generation of biogas (excluding REC)and agricultural residues was 11.96 million kWh, reducing approximately 5,910.96 tonnes of CO2e.
→As of the end of 2023, 69 battery exchange stations and 7 frapid charging service stations for electric vehicles have been launched at existing gas stations.
Continue to study the recycling of agricultural waste and develop recycling businesses in different fields. (accomplished)
→As of the end of 2023, 5,533 tonnes of discarded oyster shells were made into oyster shell powder
→The percentage of waste recycling reached 99.31%, a 0.2% increase compared with 2022.

→In August 2023, TSC responded to the TCFD initiative by signing up as TCFD Supporters. At same year, we completed our first "TSC Climate-Related Financial Disclosure Report" for internal reference, as part of our commitment to taking action to mitigate global warming.

→Promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction has resulted in approximately 19,751 GJ of energy savings and a reduction of about 1,445 tonnes of CO2e emissions.
To continue the tending of the afforestation land because its location is with ecological and habitat value. (accomplished)
→The area for afforestation and tending has amounted to 11,541 hectares in total, absorbing approximately 128,600 tonnes of CO2e.
Note : In 2019, the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute conducted experiments in TSC’s MASADIFOREST in Hualien as the sample area, and the carbon dioxide absorption (benefit) equivalent was 11.14 tonnes per hectare per year.

2024 Goals

Agriculture Business Division is expected to complete a domestic orchid greenhouse heat pump project covering an area of 15,743m2.
Diversified energy supply is a concrete action for TSC gas stations to achieve net zero emissions. In 2024, it is planned to launch 18 rapid charging service stations for electric vehicles at the existing gas stations.
Continue to study the recycling of agricultural waste and develop recycling businesses in different fields.
To organize a total of 400 sessions of green meetings.
To continue the promotion of energy conservation and carbon reduction measures.
Moderate retention of forest trees will be maintained to continuously create habitat and ecological environments, providing functions of habitat, forage, and ecological corridor for wildlife. In addition to applying for ecological incentives from the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, we also applied for the Reforestation and Afforestation Carbon Sequestration Project to obtain reduction credits.
Xiaogang Refinery is expected to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to below 62,000 tonnes of CO2e in 2024.

Medium and Long-term Objectives

To continue to take inventory of the rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV facilities on the roofs of buildings and on low-fertility agricultural land.
Agriculture Business Division plans to complete greenhouse heat pump projects in Wushulin Orchid Nursery and Dalin Orchid Nursery 9,484m2 by 2025.
To continue the upgrading of equipment for efficiency improvement to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.
Evaluate the application of emission source greenhouse gas capture (absorption, storage) technology to implement carbon reduction.

2023 Goals and Achievements

The Sugar Business Division will reduce 5% of pesticides use in the planting of sugarcane compared to the previous year. (unaccomplished)
→To respond to the impact of climate conditions such as increased rainfall on the occurrence of pests, in 2023, the Sugar Business Division consumed 59,200 kilograms of “Terbufos,” a decrease of 3.8% compared to the 61,540 kilograms in the previous year. Considering the multiple variables in pesticide use in practice, the target of reduction will be adjusted to 3% starting from 2024 to balance pesticide reduction and sugarcane growth.
To carry out actions in relation to firefly restoration and organized at least one session of “releasing firefly larvae back into the wild.” (accomplished)
→In June, 2023, Jianshanpi Resort organized two sessions of firefly education and promotion activities of ecological night tour combining firefly habitat environment improvement and releasing firefly larvae of Aquatica ficta into the wild. The learning activities totaled 10 hours (5 hours per session), and 116 primary school teachers, students (including parents) participated in these activities.

2024 Goals

The Sugar Business Division will reduce 3% of the unit area pesticide usage in the planting of sugarcane compared to the previous year.
To promote land health and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, green manure is planted during sugarcane rotation and fallow period of TSC’s self-operated farms. The planned planting area for 2024 is 570 hectares.
The residual bagasse was all used for sugar factory boiler combustion for power generation and for the production of organic compost or feed.
To carry out actions in relation to firefly restoration and organized at least one session of “releasing firefly larvae back into the wild.”

Medium and Long-term Objectives

We continuously collaborate with the conclusions drawn in the meetings of Ministry of Agriculture dated on August 4, 2020, and August 23, 2021 to provide flat land for afforestation suitable for agricultural production locations to Ministry of Agriculture for the overall planning of organic agriculture zones, livestock zones, the special zone for the cultivation of medicinal plants used in traditional Chinese medicine that the Ministry of Health and Welfare is planning, and the land required for the demonstration of irrigation of biogas residue and biogas slurry planned by the Ministry of Environment.
To promote land health and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, our self-operated farms plant green manure during sugarcane rotation and fallow periods, and after the annual promotion, the area has increased to 800 hectares.
“Agricultural Circulation Pig Farm Renovation and Investment Project” involving the reconstruction of all 13 livestock farms aims to be completed by the end of June 2025, with production expected to commence gradually in the same year.
Obtain the Animal Welfare Label Certification (if there is animal welfare certification related to pig breeding in the future).
Change the stereotypical image of pig farms among the public, promote sustainable animal husbandry industry, and enhance our corporate image.
To continue to organize actions and promotional activities in relation to nature and ecological conservation.
The self-operated farms utilize biological pest control methods such as the use of Trichogramma chilonis to reduce the use of insecticides and control rodent damage in sugarcane fields, thereby preserving the ecological balance of the farmland.
