Since the boiler was changed to natural gas one in March, 2022, the overall GHG emissions of Scope 1 and Scope 2 in 2022 and 2023 decreased by 65,624 tonnes and 61,839 tonnes respectively, a decrease of 22% and 26% compared with 2021 (The 2023 GHG data of Xiaogang Factory was from independent inventory). - To continue the promotion of energy conservation movement and the development of renewable energy. →To respond to the impact of climate conditions such as increased rainfall on the occurrence of pests, in 2023, the Sugar Business Division consumed 59,200 kilograms of “Terbufos,” a decrease of 3.8% compared to the 61,540 kilograms in the previous year. Considering the multiple variables in pesticide use in practice, the target of reduction will be adjusted to 3% starting from 2024 to balance pesticide reduction and sugarcane growth. - To carry out actions in relation to firefly restoration and organized at least one session of “releasing firefly larvae back into the wild.” (accomplished)
→In June, 2023, Jianshanpi Resort organized two sessions of firefly education and promotion activities of ecological night tour combining firefly habitat environment improvement and releasing firefly larvae of Aquatica ficta into the wild. The learning activities totaled 10 hours (5 hours per session), and 116 primary school teachers, students (including parents) participated in these activities.

- We continuously collaborate with the conclusions drawn in the meetings of Ministry of Agriculture dated on August 4, 2020, and August 23, 2021 to provide flat land for afforestation suitable for agricultural production locations to Ministry of Agriculture for the overall planning of organic agriculture zones, livestock zones, the special zone for the cultivation of medicinal plants used in traditional Chinese medicine that the Ministry of Health and Welfare is planning, and the land required for the demonstration of irrigation of biogas residue and biogas slurry planned by the Ministry of Environment.
- To promote land health and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, our self-operated farms plant green manure during sugarcane rotation and fallow periods, and after the annual promotion, the area has increased to 800 hectares.
- “Agricultural Circulation Pig Farm Renovation and Investment Project” involving the reconstruction of all 13 livestock farms aims to be completed by the end of June 2025, with production expected to commence gradually in the same year.
