Gas Stations as Channels for Public Welfare

In accordance with regulations stipulated in Key points of Good-neighborliness Work of Institutions Affiliated to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Matters Needing Attention in the Implementation of Budgetary Subsidies (Donations) of Central Government Agencies to Non-governmental Organizations and Individuals, TSC has formulated the Key points of Good-neighborliness Work of Taiwan Sugar Corporation. A budget is prepared every year to assist local government, student clubs, associations (societies), foundations, and other organizations to handle various activities. TSC and its affiliated units not only implement the promotion of the good neighborly relations to provide help and assistance to the communities but also continue to invest in the public welfare to care for the society and the disadvantaged groups so as to fulfill our corporate social responsibility. In 2023, we organized educational and cultural activities and public welfare activities for the elderly, the weak, and the physically and mentally disabled, with a total of 125 public welfare activities, donating NTD 7.123 million in total.

In addition to allocating neighborhood funds to assist disadvantaged groups in accordance with the Key points of Good-neighborliness Work, each division also implements social welfare through marketing campaigns involving their own products and locations. For instance, events such as charity concerts combined with product promotions, charity marathons held at operational sites, charity academies, animal conservation workshops, and local vendor marketplace are organized to promote beneficial actions and ideas to the public, contributing to local revitalization efforts. In the future, TSC will continue to strengthen its actions in combining business practices with social responsibility to fulfill its corporate social responsibility.

Charity Platform in the Communities

The Petroleum Business Division continues to uphold the original intention by not only providing convenient energy supply services for the surrounding communities and travelers at each station but also engaging in social welfare activities through our 73 gas stations. Through the procurement, sale, and donation of agricultural products, it aims to expand its positive impact on local communities.

TSC gas stations have made long-term investment in public welfare activities, and we use the gas stations as a channel for people to do good deeds and provide a charity platform in the communities. Consumers with membership can get points after filling gas. The points gathered can either be used to exchange TSC merchandise or donate to charity groups to provide long-term and stable source of materials for the disadvantaged groups and encourage the public to join public welfare activities and form a virtuous circle in the society.
When filling gas, consumers can donate their accumulated love points in the Village Warm Points Collect Card or the Love Point Collecting Card to remote villages or public welfare organizations, or just donate their digital points in the Taisugar Gas Station Cloud Membership App to designated organizations for them to exchange materials. In 2022, the points in the two point collecting cards have been used to exchange materials with the market price of over NTD 389,767, benefiting 7 villages and 10 social welfare organizations to exchange livelihood materials that can be used to take care of the disadvantaged.

Support Local Farmers

TSC supports farmers and local high-quality agricultural products by purchasing produce from agricultural associations or units. With over a certain amount of money, high-quality mangoes are offered to consumers at a discounted price as a gesture of appreciation. By offering consumers differentiated value-added items, not only does it enhance the sales volume through training station staff in face-to-face sales skills, but it also assists farmers in promoting high-quality mangoes. This mutually beneficial approach creates a beneficial operating model to the farmers, consumers and TSC gas stations.

In 2023, TSC purchased 375 boxes of Irwin mangoes, totaling NTD 300,000, to hold the "TSC Cares, Supporting Farmers" event, taking action to support local farmers. It is hoped that this event can inspire other enterprises and companies to support the high-quality agricultural products in Taiwan.
