TSC is a pioneer in pig farming with enterprise management in Taiwan. It has been more than 7 decades since TSC started the livestock breeding business in 1952. To completely solve the environmental issues of pig farming, respond to the government’s 5+2 Innovative Industries Plan, and introduce ecological balance, environmental protection, and green concepts into pig farming industry. The model green energy livestock farm "Dong Hai Fang Agricultural Circulation Park " won the nation's highest environmental honor award in 2024- the 6th " National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award- Silver Award"
Dong Hai Fang Agricultural Circulation Park is not only the first agricultural and livestock farm in Taiwan that combines green energy, water recycling and biological recycling, but also the first livestock farm in the world to obtain international circular economy standard certification. With the vision and goal of "three zeros" (zero waste, zero emissions, and zero accidents), it practices carbon reduction and deodorization, and has successfully reversed the NIMBY impression of pig farms.
Dong Hai Fang Agricultural Circulation Park has introduced a new type of negative pressure water curtain closed pig house to control temperature, humidity and epidemics. It has built-in ventilation, deodorization and automatic feeding systems to implement intelligent management. The pig house uses elevated slatted flooring system and a manure scraping system to significantly reduce the water used for pig house cleaning by over 75%. After the pig manure and urine are collected uniformly, they are transported to the biogas center through a closed pipeline. Through the anaerobic digestion process, the biogas produced can generate electricity. After the solid-liquid separation, the biogas residue is added with sawdust and waste mushroom bags to make organic fertilizer; the biogas slurry enters the sewage treatment system and is recycled and reused for tree irrigation or park water. Solar panels are installed on the roof of the pig house to not only help cool it but also produce green electricity, reduce carbon emissions, and accelerate the domestic renewable energy transformation.
TSC has set the best example of circular economy in the pig farming industry through the Dong-Hai-Feng Agricultural Circulation Park, and continues to receive visits and exchanges from government agencies, schools, research institutions, companies and other groups, with a total of 842 people in 2024. In addition, the Dong Hai Fang Agricultural Circulation Park also obtained certification of Environmental Education Facility and Field in 2022, making it Taiwan’s first environmental education site with the background of "green energy pig farming". From breeds, physiological structure, habits, animal welfare feeding methods to back-end processing, as well as the reduction of odors in the pig farming process, the harmlessness and resource utilization of pig manure and urine, etc., it leads people to understand the pig farming industry. A total of 11 environmental education sessions were held in 2024, with a total of 314 participants.
