In October 2025, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Plastics Industry Development Center (PIDC) to further strengthen cross-domain connections between agriculture and industry, jointly promote the recycling and value-added utilization of agricultural by-products, and encourage more SMEs to invest in sustainable materials development, working together to create opportunities for diversified agriculture and circular sustainability.

TSC’s journey toward a circular economy began as early as the sugar manufacturing era, from converting bagasse into compost through fermentation and maturation, and returning filter mud to farmland to improve soil quality, to actively supporting national policies on New Agriculture and Circular Economy, and promoting biogas power generation and Oyster Shell Biomaterial Plant in recent years—all of these efforts embody the principle of “turning leftovers into resources and creating value from waste”. The research team has taken a more proactive approach, focusing on everyday life, and has already developed several prototype circular products with market potential using the company's available resources. In the future, we will leverage PIDC's "Sustainable Materials Library" platform to attract more manufacturers to collaborate on development, bringing green innovation out of the laboratory and into everyday life.

TSC possesses abundant biological resources and validation facilities, while the Plastics Industry Development Center has expertise in materials science and process development. It is expected that through platform outreach and the sharing of technical expertise, state-owned enterprises can fulfill their social responsibility through “Large Leading Small” approach, enabling SMEs to access recycled materials, understand sustainable design, and find their place within the industrial symbiosis ecosystem, thereby injecting more innovative momentum and sustainable value into Taiwanese agriculture.
