TSC develops innovative vaccines to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan's pig farming industry.

TSC participated in the 22nd National Innovation Award's "Enterprise Innovation Award - Agricultural and Food Biotechnology Category" with its "Next-generation Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) vaccine enhancing lactogenic immunity". After a three-stage review by the judging panel, it successfully stood out for its technological breakthrough, application benefits, and industrial value, winning the annual National Innovation Award. The award ceremony was held in Grand Hilai Taipei, and was personally presented by Prime Minister Jung-Tai Cho. TSC Chairman Ming-Chang Wu led the research team of the project, including Taiwan Sugar Research Institute (TSRI) Director, I-Jen Huang, Section Leader, Ji-Ming Yang, and Dr. Dai-Ji Li, to attend the ceremony, demonstrating TSC's deep commitment to developing independent animal vaccine technologies.

The National Innovation Award is a benchmark competition in the domestic medical and biotechnology fields. TSRI won the award for its independently developed PED vaccine with lactation immunity, demonstrating the innovative value of this vaccine technology in both scientific merit and practical application. It also reflects the achievements of TSC in recent years in actively promoting sustainable livestock, biotechnology R&D, and industrial upgrading. This national-level award is expected to strengthen industry chain connections, increase technological visibility, and promote commercialization.

TSC Chairman Ming-Chang Wu emphasized that "promoting biotechnology autonomy and protecting the local livestock industry are long-term goals of Taiwan Sugar Corporation". He added that TSC will continue to deepen its vaccine platform and application research to help the industry reduce disease risks, improve overall survival rates, and increase production efficiency. Director of TSRI, Dr. I-Jen Huang, stated that this award not only represents the innovative breakthroughs of the Taiwan Sugar Research Institute in animal vaccine technology but also symbolizes a significant milestone for TSC in biotechnology investment, industry-academia collaboration, and sustainable livestock strategies.

TSC stated that it hopes to leverage this National Innovation Award recognition to accelerate the commercialization of vaccines and align them with international standards. It will also continue to build a more comprehensive animal vaccine technology framework to provide safer, standardized, and sustainable disease prevention solutions for the pig farming industry in Taiwan and globally.
