Two Decades of Leading Breeding: Taisugar's Gold-Award-Winning Orchid R&D

Taiwan Sugar Corporation has long been committed to the breeding and R&D of cultivation technology of Phalaenopsis. The Taisuco Phalaenopsis cultivated is renowned for its artistic elegance and superior quality, earning widespread recognition in both domestic and international markets. In the 2025 Taiwan International Orchid Show Competition, more than 1,500 orchids were entered for evaluation. Following assessment by approximately 200 domestic and international judges, 12 varieties from TSC stood out, earning 14 awards in total, including 1 first award, 4 second awards, 3 third awards, 2 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals, demonstrating TSC’s profound strength in Phalaenopsis breeding and cultivation technology.

Among them, the most eye-catching was “P. Chian Xen Starlight × P. Fuller's V-Plus”, which won the first award. This variety was highly praised by the judges for its soft pink patterns and full, rounded flower shape. Another variety, "Phal. amabilis," won both the second award and the TIOS silver medal. Its pure white flowers and stable cultivation performance made it an important representative variety in domestic and international exhibitions and exchanges.

In addition, Taiwan Sugar Corporation showcased its flagship orchid variety, Phal. Taisuco Anna, at this year's Orchid Show in a presidential-level potted plant display. The display incorporated elements of Orchid Island's canoe culture, alongside other varieties such as "Taisuco Green Apple," "Phal. Taisuco Anna," and "Phal. amabilis," demonstrating the unique characteristics of Taiwan's native orchid culture and the industry's innovative achievements. TSC will continue to deepen its R&D in orchid breeding and cultivation techniques to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan’s orchid industry, and promote orchid culture and international exchange to sustain the global presence and recognition of Taiwan's high-quality orchids.

At the 2025 Taiwan International Orchid Show Competition, organized by the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association (T.O.G.A.), TSC’s received the following awards:
