From Gold to Golden Quality: South Shashe River Drives Urban Resilience

In 2025, Taiwan Sugar Corporation's Pingtung District Office won the Ministry of Economic Affairs' 2025 Public Construction Quality Award in the Civil Engineering Category for its "Development Project of the Industrial Park South of Shashe River". This project is TSC's first self-developed industrial park and is a large-scale public works development project. It is developed in the sugarcane bagasse drying area of the pulp mill on the south side of the former Pingtung Sugar Factory, with an area of about 23.82 hectares. It is named after the Shashe River because it is located south of the factory.

Since its commencement in June 2023, this project has faced challenges including limited time, funding, experience, and personnel. Despite these difficulties, the project team has diligently promoted cross-departmental coordination and cooperation, demonstrating efficient project management. The project has been recognized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs for its construction quality, innovative technologies, and sustainable thinking.

Inheriting the TSC's stringent requirements for occupational safety and health, the project not only achieved excellent construction quality but also won the "2024 Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Construction Safety Golden Award - Excellence Award in Public Construction Category" for its safe working environment. This award-winning achievement has been included in the company's 2025 Sustainability Report, further highlighting its outstanding results in quality and occupational safety and health practices.
